The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has revealed that the champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) will receive a record GHS 2 million as prize money.

Speaking at the 31st Ordinary Congress held at the E.T. Mensah Hall, Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Okraku confirmed that the substantial cash reward forms part of the Association’s commitment to improving financial incentives for top-flight clubs.

“The winner of the 2025/26 GPL will take home GHS 2 million Ghana cedis as prize money. The runner-up will receive a million Ghana Cedis. Second runner up 800,000 Ghana Cedis.” Okraku announced.

The new prize package marks a significant boost from previous seasons and is expected to heighten competition in the league, which kicks off on the weekend of September 12, 2025.

The GFA believes the increase in prize money will not only reward excellence but also encourage clubs to invest in infrastructure, player welfare, and overall performance.
