President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Abraham Kotei Neequaye, has made startling claims regarding his strained working relationship with the Kofi Adams, the Minister Sports and Recreation.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite programme on June 10, 2025, Neequaye revealed that the Sports Minister openly told him that their inability to work together stems from his personal issues with former Sports Minister and Member of Parliament, Nii Lante Vanderpuye.

“The Sports Minister boldly told me that he cannot work with me simply because I have issues with Nii Lante Vanderpuye,” Neequaye stated during the interview. “We were cool at the beginning of his tenure but it changed after the death of the Nigerian boxer.” He added.

The claim, if confirmed, raises concerns about political interference and personal bias affecting the administration of sports in the country. Neequaye’s revelation points to possible challenges in collaboration between the GBA and the Ministry, potentially hindering the development of boxing in Ghana.
