Head coach of Bibiani GoldStars, Frimpong Manso, has revealed that his original target for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season was a top-six finish — not the historic league title they eventually secured.

Despite the mid-season setback, Bibiani GoldStars bounced back strongly and maintained consistency to finish the season with 63 points — three ahead of second-placed Nations FC — and lift their maiden Ghana Premier League title.

Speaking on SportsNite on Asempa FM, the experienced tactician disclosed that while his ambitions were modest at the start, the unwavering belief and motivation from the club’s management inspired the team to push beyond their limits and achieve the unthinkable.

“My target for the league was to be in the top 6. We started the league so well and ended on top of the league and management motivated us to go all out and win the league,” Frimpong Manso said.

GoldStars’ journey to the top was not without setbacks. The coach cited the team’s shock defeat to Karela United as a major stumbling block that briefly derailed their momentum.

“Losing against Karela was a big blow and a big shock to the team, but the management did very well and helped us to recover quickly,” he added.

Manso’s remarkable turnaround of the club has now earned them a ticket to the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, marking a new chapter in their history.
