Bankroller of Elmina Sharks FC, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, has expressed his intention to possibly step down from managing the Division One League club due to mounting challenges in Ghanaian football.

Speaking in an interview with GTV Sports+, Nduom highlighted his frustration with the current state of the sport, particularly after his club made headlines for the wrong reasons when players and officials allegedly attacked a referee during a league match against Swedru All Blacks on February 16, 2025.

Despite the controversy, Nduom maintained that his motivation for running the club was never financial gain, but rather to provide opportunities for young players.

“I am considering whether to even continue having this team as part of the league. It isn’t worth it. I don’t do it for money. I don’t do it for anything else. We do it for opportunities,” he stated.

Nduom pointed to the success of several former Elmina Sharks players who are now thriving abroad as proof of the club’s positive impact.

“We have players who are playing in Egypt and other places. They are doing well and have money. Do we have to suffer these sorts of indignities?” he questioned.

His comments have sparked discussions about the challenges faced by club owners and the need for reforms within the country’s football administration.

As the GFA investigates the recent incident involving Elmina Sharks, Nduom’s remarks serve as a stark reminder of the difficulties of running a football club in Ghana.
