Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has voiced strong support for Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, expressing belief that the current GFA President has the potential to ascend to the highest office in African football—President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF)—provided he stays focused and grounded in integrity.

His endorsement follows Okraku’s appointment as the Second Vice President of CAF, a decision announced over the weekend at a CAF Executive Committee meeting held in Accra. The new role marks a significant milestone in Okraku’s administrative journey and places him among the most influential figures in African football governance.

In an interview with Graphic Sports, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe congratulated Okraku and underscored the significance of the achievement for Ghanaian football. He emphasized that Okraku’s rise mirrors that of former GFA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi, who held top positions in CAF and FIFA before his fall from grace.

“I think it’s good news for Ghana soccer. Like Kwasi Nyantakyi, who raised Ghana’s image to a very high level within CAF and FIFA circles, I believe if Kurt really works hard, he might even become the CAF President,” said Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe.

He was quick to point out, however, that such ambitions must be matched with a steadfast commitment to ethical leadership.

“Integrity and hard work will determine whether he can reach the CAF seat and eventually the FIFA level,” he added.

The former GFA chief urged Okraku to prioritize collective progress over personal ambition, highlighting the need to serve not only Ghana’s interests but also those of the entire continent.
