Union Berlin full-back Derrick Köhn has made his ambitions clear ahead of Ghana’s upcoming international friendlies, declaring his intent to force his way into the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Fresh from being named in Otto Addo’s 26-man squad, the 27-year-old is targeting standout performances in the matches against Austria national football team and Germany national football team as he looks to secure a key role in the Black Stars setup.

For Köhn, the fixtures—scheduled for March 27 in Vienna and March 30 in Stuttgart—carry significant weight, serving as a decisive platform to impress the technical team ahead of the global tournament.

“Personally, I want to play well in the Austria and Germany games so that Otto Addo would have no chance to keep me out of the squad for the World Cup,” Köhn declared.

Having made his debut for the Ghana national football team in late 2025, the former Hannover 96 defender is still establishing himself within the national team structure.

With Ghana’s World Cup preparations intensifying, Köhn sees the upcoming European friendlies as a defining moment—one he hopes will solidify his place in the squad heading into 2026.
