Charles Sampson Lauds Team’s Character After Victory Over Benin
Head coach of Ghana’s Black Princesses, Charles Sampson, has commended his players for their strong mentality and determination following their 2-0 triumph over Benin in their second meeting at the 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls Cup.
The Princesses put up a spirited display on Monday morning to secure another victory over the host nation, completing a double in the group stage of the competition. Goals from Sarah Nyarko and Latifa Musah sealed the win for Ghana, who dominated proceedings throughout the encounter.
Speaking after the game, Coach Sampson expressed satisfaction with his team’s response after their earlier setback against Nigeria.
“We wanted a win today, coming back from a defeat to Nigeria, and we got it. We got a win and the girls showed good character, and I was impressed with it,” he told Ghana FA Media.
The coach highlighted the importance of the win in restoring confidence within the squad, especially as they look to progress further in the tournament.
The result extends Ghana’s impressive record against Benin, having beaten them twice in the competition. It also underscores the team’s growing cohesion and attacking efficiency, led by standout performers Nyarko and Musah.
The Black Princesses will now shift their focus to their final group game against Nigeria on Tuesday, November 11, at 9:00 GMT, as they aim to secure a spot in the next stage of the tournament.
