Ghana’s Black Stars produced a commanding performance to secure a 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff of the 2025 Unity Cup at the G-Tech Stadium in Brentford, West London.

The emphatic win served as a strong response to their semi-final disappointment against Nigeria and showcased the depth and promise within Otto Addo’s squad.

Head coach Otto Addo made several changes to his starting lineup, offering opportunities to a number of fringe players and debutants. The decision paid off, with the fresh faces delivering an inspired performance in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Veteran forward Jordan Ayew opened the scoring early in the first half, giving Ghana a perfect start and setting the tempo for what would become a dominant showing.

Nations FC defender Razak Simpson doubled Ghana’s lead with a powerful header on his debut, before striker Mohammed Fuseini finished off a fluid team move in the 42nd minute for his first goal in a Black Stars jersey—following a pinpoint assist from captain Jordan Ayew.

Fuseini nearly grabbed a second goal just minutes later, but his effort crashed against the crossbar and was subsequently ruled offside.

The Black Stars headed into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead, controlling possession and creating numerous chances.

In the second half, Ghana continued their dominance, and it was Cercle Brugge midfielder Lawrence Agyekum who added a fourth goal in the 59th minute. His opportunistic strike came after a defensive error by the Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper. Agyekum was immediately replaced after his goal, making way for highly-rated Barcelona B midfielder Abdul Aziz Issah.

Issah, making his senior debut after excelling at the U-20 Africa Games and impressing in the CAF Confederation Cup with Dreams FC, brought calm and maturity to Ghana’s midfield in the final half-hour of the match.

Ghana saw out the rest of the game with confidence and composure, securing a resounding victory to wrap up their Unity Cup campaign in style.

The result not only gave the Black Stars a morale-boosting finish to the tournament but also provided valuable insight for coach Otto Addo as the team shifts focus to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
