Ghana’s Black Stars will face Mexico in an international friendly in May as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The match is scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026, at a venue yet to be confirmed in Mexico.

The fixture is expected to serve as a key assessment platform for head coach Otto Addo and his technical team, who are closely monitoring players across Europe, the domestic league, and the U-23 setup ahead of the global tournament. Several emerging talents are also likely to be included as Ghana continues preparations for the Olympic Games qualifiers.

The Mexico encounter will be the third confirmed friendly for Ghana in 2026, following earlier announcements of test matches against Austria and Germany in the March international window. More opponents are expected to be confirmed as the Black Stars fine-tune their squad and tactical approach ahead of the World Cup.

Addo and his staff are set to unveil their squad for the Austria and Germany fixtures in the coming days, with the Mexico clash adding further opportunities to evaluate depth, form, and tactical combinations.

Mexico, who will co-host the tournament alongside the United States and Canada, will open their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 11 before facing additional Group A opponents yet to be finalised. Ghana, meanwhile, will begin their quest on June 17 against Panama, followed by group matches against England and Croatia.

Both nations will be aiming to use the friendly as a crucial rehearsal for the world’s biggest football stage.
