Bechem United have confirmed the departure of head coach Stephen Desmond-Issah Botchway following a disappointing start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The decision, announced on Monday morning, comes after a string of underwhelming results that have left the Hunters hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone. Under Botchway’s leadership, Bechem United managed only one victory, three draws, and four defeats in their opening eight matches of the campaign.

The club’s management, in a brief statement, expressed appreciation for Botchway’s service and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Appointed ahead of the season with the ambition of rebuilding the squad and competing for a top-half finish, Botchway struggled to find consistency in both performance and results. The team’s attacking inefficiency and defensive lapses became recurring issues, ultimately leading to the club’s decision to make a change in leadership.

An interim technical team has been tasked with overseeing training and preparing the squad for their next Premier League fixture while the club begins the process of appointing a new head coach.

Bechem United’s hierarchy is reportedly determined to bring in an experienced tactician capable of revitalizing the team’s form and guiding them away from the lower end of the league table.

The Hunters will now look to regroup and regain momentum as they aim to revive their season after a difficult start marked by inconsistency and missed opportunities.
