Basake Holy Stars have officially petitioned the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to award them three points and three goals following the dramatic abandonment of their Ghana Premier League Matchday 33 clash against Nations FC.

The encounter, played over the weekend, was marred by controversy when Nations FC players and officials stormed off the pitch in protest, bringing the match to a premature end. At the time of the disruption, Holy Stars were leading 1-0, courtesy of a converted penalty, and had just been awarded a second spot kick.

In their correspondence to the GFA, Basake Holy Stars insisted that the match abandonment was unprovoked and that they deserve the statutory three points and three goals under existing league regulations. The GFA has confirmed it is investigating the matter.

The incident unfolded after tempers flared on the pitch following the second penalty award. A heated exchange ensued, leading to the intervention of security personnel. Nations FC subsequently refused to continue the match and exited the field.

Basake Holy Stars’ request, if granted, could significantly influence the title race. Nations FC are currently level on points with Bibiani Gold Stars at the top of the table, heading into the final round of matches.
