Asante Kotoko Part Ways with Striker Sampson Eduku

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have officially parted ways with striker Sampson Eduku, just months after his much-heralded arrival in January 2025.

The 29-year-old signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors in a move aimed at strengthening the club’s attacking depth during the second half of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

However, Eduku has now exited the club following a brief stint that failed to live up to expectations.

Eduku joined Kotoko with a formidable reputation, having netted 14 goals and provided four assists for Tamale City during the 2022/23 campaign — form that earned him a transfer to Al Quwa Al Jawiya in Iraq, where he showed flashes of his potential.

Despite that promise, Eduku struggled to settle in Kumasi and failed to make a notable impact in Kotoko colours. He registered limited appearances and did not score in competitive matches for the Reds, leading to questions about his integration into the team’s system.

Club insiders indicate that Eduku’s departure was mutual, with both parties agreeing to terminate the deal after it became clear he was surplus to requirements heading into the 2025/26 season.
