Ghanaian football powerhouse Asante Kotoko have officially confirmed the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito as the club’s substantive head coach on a two-year contract.

The announcement was made on Sunday, July 20, through an official club notice.

“We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey as our head coach for the next two years,” the club shared in a post on X.

Coach Zito assumes the role on a permanent basis after serving as interim head coach since April. His initial appointment came on April 22, 2025, when he was named Technical Director of the club and tasked with leading the first team following the dismissal of former coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.

It remains unclear whether Abdul Karim Zito will continue to double as Technical Director or if the club will announce a separate appointment for that role in the coming days.

During his interim spell, the former Dreams FC manager led Kotoko to notable success, including clinching the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup and securing victory over rivals Hearts of Oak to win the 2025 President’s Cup.

With his new mandate confirmed, Zito will now be expected to continue building on that momentum and deliver further achievements for the Porcupine Warriors.
