Antoine Semenyo Reveals Inspiration from Football Legends Drogba and Henry,
Bournemouth and Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has shared insights into how studying football legends played a pivotal role in shaping his game during his early years at Bristol City.
Semenyo’s hard work and dedication are now paying off as he enjoys a standout season with Bournemouth in the Premier League. With 10 league goal involvements to his name, the Ghanaian forward has been instrumental in helping the Cherries climb to within three points of Chelsea and just three places shy of the top four.
In an interview with Premier League TV, Semenyo recalled how an assistant coach at Bristol encouraged him to study clips of his idols.
“It was actually one of the assistant coaches at the time at Bristol that suggested I should be watching a lot of clips from my idols. He suggested Embolo from Monaco. He felt like my play style is very similar,” Semenyo explained.
“I watched him, Henry, and Drogba for inspiration; movement, working on heading, just footwork, just those sort of things. I used my time watching them. I was out for three-four months. It was a lot of watching. I used the time wisely to watch them and included them in my game,” he added.
As Bournemouth fights for a spot in European football, Semenyo’s performances have drawn praise, highlighting the importance of learning from the best and applying those lessons on the pitch.
