Anim Addo Stands Firm on Accusations Against Referee Maxwell Hanson
Samuel Anim Addo, President of Young Apostles FC and former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, has doubled down on his earlier claims accusing referee Maxwell Hanson of being the GFA’s “man for dirty works.”
Anim Addo first made the remarks on social media following Accra Lions’ controversial 1-0 loss to Dreams FC in a Week 16 Ghana Premier League fixture. He alleged that the referee’s decisions during the match favored one side, sparking widespread debate within the football community.
The GFA subsequently charged Anim Addo with misconduct, claiming his statements brought the association and the Ghana Premier League into disrepute.
Despite this, Anim Addo remains firm in his position, asserting that his comments were rooted in his desire for fairness and transparency in Ghanaian football.
In a recent interview, Anim Addo reiterated his stance, showing no remorse for his controversial statement.
“I am not afraid of the comments I made, in which I accused referee Maxwell Hanson of being the GFA’s ‘man for dirty works.’ I still stand by my statement,” Anim Addo told Asempa FM.
Anim Addo also used the opportunity to call for reforms in officiating and better accountability within the GFA, emphasizing the need for fairness and integrity in the game.
