Ghana’s badminton team is brimming with confidence ahead of the maiden African School Games in Algeria, with head coach Moses Adu expressing high expectations for his squad’s performance.

Badminton is among eleven sporting disciplines Ghana is fielding at the Games, which will run from July 26 to August 5, 2025, across four Algerian cities — Annaba, Skikda, Constantine, and Setif.

Speaking before the team’s departure, Coach Adu stated that the players are well-prepared and ready to make the nation proud.

“Our hope is very high at the African School Games. We hope to bring medals. We are targeting about six to nine medals from badminton. We have really worked towards it and Ghana should expect a good performance from us,” he said.

The African School Games are designed to unearth young sporting talent across the continent and promote school sports as a vital part of youth development. With preparations in the bag, Ghana’s badminton team will be aiming to capitalize on their hard work and return home with a strong medal haul.

Coach Adu’s optimism reflects the growing momentum within Ghana’s youth sports sector, as the country seeks to reassert itself on the continental stage.
