AFCON Qualifiers: Jordan Ayew appointed as new captain
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has confirmed Jordan Ayew as the new captain of the Black Stars.
The Black Stars will lock horns with Angola and Niger for the final round of matches for the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers.
Mohammed Kudus led the team in the double-header games against Sudan due to the absence of Thomas Partey. However, Otto Addo revealed to the media that Kudus has decided to hand over the captaincy after a fruitful conversation.
“First of all, the initiative was to make Thomas the captain of the team and for him to guide the team, to lead the team. After the talks with Thomas… I had to talk to Kudus. For him, I think he’s still young; he needs to grow into that role.”
Otto Addo has therefore decided to appoint Jordan Ayew as the new captain of the team and he will be assisted by Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Kudus.
“Now as we know, Thomas is not there for the next two games, at the end I decided to take a new captain for the team which will be Jordan.” He added.
Ghana will face Angola on 15th November 2024 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda before playing the final game against Niger at the Accra sports stadium on 18th November.
