Abdul Fatawu Issahaku Grateful for Support After Injury Comeback
Ghana and Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans for their unwavering support during his lengthy injury layoff, which saw him miss the entire 2024/25 Premier League season.
The 20-year-old suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while on international duty with the Black Stars, halting what many expected to be a breakthrough year in England’s top flight.
Now fully recovered, Fatawu is ready to write a new chapter in his young career as Leicester City prepare for life in the EFL Championship, following their relegation from the Premier League. The Ghanaian made a strong return during the Foxes’ pre-season campaign, notably scoring a stunning solo goal against Fiorentina, marking his first match back at the King Power Stadium.
Taking to social media, Issahaku shared his appreciation and determination:
“The comeback is personal. Thanks to everyone for the support throughout this journey. Was lovely to be back again at the King Power. See you next weekend for the main business.”
Leicester City are set to begin their Championship season on August 10, facing Sheffield Wednesday in their opening fixture. Fatawu is expected to play a key role in the club’s bid for an immediate return to the top flight.
Additionally, the winger will be eyeing a return to Ghana’s national team setup, with crucial World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali scheduled for September.
