Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Sports Committee, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has sounded a cautionary note over what he describes as the growing influence of selfish interests in the administration of Ghana sports.

His remarks follow recent developments in Ghana football governance, particularly surrounding proposals to amend the statutes of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and extend the presidential term limit — a move that has sparked national debate.

Speaking in an interview on Sportsnite on Asempa FM, Hon. Assafuah warned that the unchecked pursuit of personal agendas by some individuals could derail the progress and integrity of Ghana’s sporting landscape.

“If we don’t take care, some people will use their influence and selfishness to destroy our sports and its status,” he said.

Hon. Assafuah’s comment reflects growing concern from key political and sports stakeholders about the need for transparency, accountability, and collective interest in managing the affairs of Ghana sports.
