Chelsea forward Tyrique George has hinted at a possible international crossroads after revealing his Ghanaian heritage, a disclosure that could make him eligible for a future switch in national allegiance.

The young striker, who sealed a loan move to Everton on transfer deadline day, shared the detail during his first interview at the club, confirming that his mother is Ghanaian while his father is Nigerian.

George enjoyed a productive first half of the season with Chelsea, making 11 senior appearances and finding the net against Lincoln City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ajax across competitions. His performances have also been rewarded on the international stage at youth level.

Having already featured for England’s Under-21 side, the forward has scored twice in four outings for the Young Lions. His international journey with England includes appearances at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels, before stepping up to the U21s during the European Under-21 Championship qualifiers in late 2025.

Despite his extensive youth involvement with England, George is yet to make a senior appearance, keeping his options open under FIFA eligibility rules. As things stand, the striker could still commit his future to either Ghana or Nigeria should he decide to pursue a nationality switch.

The revelation is likely to spark interest from both African nations as George continues to develop at club level and shape the next phase of his career.
