Thomas Partey Hit With Additional Rape Charges as Legal Case Deepens
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two further counts of rape, according to a report by The Telegraph, in a development that escalates the legal proceedings involving the 32-year-old footballer.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised the new charges, which add to the allegations Partey is already contesting. The former Premier League midfielder had previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault during a court appearance at Southwark Crown Court in September last year.
The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his time as a first-team player at a north London club. Partey was formally charged shortly after leaving the club at the end of June following the expiration of his contract.
Partey is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 13, in relation to the latest accusations. He remains on bail and is scheduled to stand trial on November 2. Under the terms of his bail, he is allowed to continue his football career but must notify police at least 24 hours before travelling abroad and is prohibited from contacting the complainants.
The midfielder is currently playing in Spain’s La Liga with Villarreal after joining as a free agent.
