Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Owusu has played down the relevance of form and history ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated Ghana Premier League Super Clash against Hearts of Oak, insisting the outcome will hinge on what happens on the pitch.

The Porcupine Warriors will host their fierce rivals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in a Week 22 fixture that could have significant implications for both sides’ title ambitions in the 2025/26 campaign.

Despite Kotoko’s victory over Hearts of Oak in the first round meeting this season, Owusu believes previous encounters will have no impact on the upcoming showdown. The coach stressed that the intensity and desire shown on matchday will be the decisive factor.

“When it comes to Hearts of Oak and Kotoko, I don’t count by what has happened before. It’s the performance on the day on the pitch and how badly the other team wants it. That’s what gives the results,” Prince Owusu told AKSC Media in a pre-match interview.

Both clubs are chasing crucial points as the title race heats up, with the Super Clash expected to draw massive attention from supporters across the country.

Kick-off for the eagerly awaited encounter is scheduled for 5:00 pm at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where Kotoko will look to make home advantage count against their Accra-based rivals.
