Sports Minister Seeks NSA Staff Records Amid Appointment Controversy

Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has asked the National Sports Authority (NSA) to provide comprehensive employment and staff records, following reports that the Authority’s board had ordered the reversal of recent appointments.

The request was made during a meeting on February 23 involving the Minister, the NSA Board and Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, as the government seeks clarity on the circumstances surrounding the recruitment process.

Media reports had earlier suggested that the board directed the Director General to revoke the appointments of 17 staff members who were allegedly recruited without the necessary clearance. However, officials at the Ministry have clarified that the Minister’s immediate instruction was for the submission of detailed employment data rather than a direct order to terminate the appointments.

The controversy dates back to earlier this month, when reports indicated that the board had flagged the appointments and set a February 6 deadline for corrective action after concerns were raised during a board retreat in Ada.

The latest development signals increased oversight from the Ministry as it reviews administrative procedures at the NSA, with the outcome expected to shape future кадров and governance processes within the Authority.
