Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has expressed his satisfaction with the re-signing of striker Kwame Opoku, hailing the player’s professionalism and ability to deliver on the field.

The club announced the signing of the striker yesterday and revealed he has joined the Porcupine Warriors on a two and and a half year deal.

Speaking to the media, coach Prosper Ogum gave his general assessment on the signing of Kwame Opoku and how he is eager to make a mark.

“He’s a fine striker, fine player. I like his level of professionalism,” Ogum said. “He’s been talking to me about the way we train here, how happy he is. The way we train is up to standard, and he is happy he is back to the club to also contribute his quota.”

Kwame Opoku made 16 appearances, scoring six goals and providing three assists in his first stint with Kotoko

Coach Ogum outlined the significance of Opoku’s return, emphasizing the striker’s keen eye for goal.

“We know he has the eye for goal, and that’s the reason why we are bringing him on board to come and score. Either he is scoring or he is assisting other teammates to also score,” Ogum noted.

To ensure Opoku thrives, the coach stressed the importance of providing holistic support.

“So we only have to support him emotionally, we have to support him psychologically. Let him believe that he is a good quality player—that’s why we brought him on board. We need to give him all the necessary physical and psycho-social support to be able to live up to expectations,” he added.

The forward had an impressive spell with Kotoko during the 2020/21 season. In that campaign, Opoku made 16 appearances, scoring six goals and providing three assists, performances that caught the attention of international clubs.
