Chairman of Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Ernest Norgbey, has weighed in on the Black Stars’ recent upturn in form, suggesting that Ghana’s back-to-back victories in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers may have been more about national morale and motivation than tactical brilliance.

His comments come at a time when head coach Otto Addo and his technical team have received praise for restoring discipline and direction in the team.

However, the Sports Committee chairman believes the atmosphere surrounding the national team and the rallying of public support played a more crucial role.

Speaking in an interview, Hon. Norgbey expressed his views on the team’s 5-0 win over Chad and the subsequent 3-0 triumph against Madagascar in March, which reignited public optimism after a turbulent period for Ghana’s senior national team.

“Personally, the winning of the Black Stars is not because of technical expediency. I want to believe that it is because of the motivation and aura of the country. I cannot equate it to the technical bench,” Norgbey stated on GHOne TV

Ghana’s recent victories have put them in a strong position in the World Cup qualification campaign, sparking renewed belief among fans.

The Black Stars will return to action in May for the Unity Cup and September for the continuation of their World Cup qualifiers.
