Nkrataasem COO Alex Kobina Stonne Declares Bid for UniMAC SRC External Affairs Commissioner
Alex Kobina Stonne, popularly known as Kobby Stonne, has officially announced his intention to contest for the position of SRC External Affairs Commissioner at the University of Media, Arts and Communication, presenting a policy-driven vision focused on student welfare, partnerships, and sustainable development.
The Development Communication student and Chief Operating Officer of Nkrataasem is anchoring his campaign on practical interventions designed to address long-standing challenges faced by students, particularly in transportation, digital access, and sports development.
At the heart of his agenda is the UniMAC Student Transport Support Initiative, which seeks to secure a dedicated student bus to support academic field trips, projects, excursions, and official SRC activities. Stonne plans to lobby university management and alumni while also pursuing corporate sponsorships and crowdfunding to ensure transparency and sustainability. A structured SRC-managed booking system is expected to guarantee fair access for both academic and extracurricular use
Another flagship proposal is the UniMAC Student SIM Project, aimed at reducing the burden of high data costs on students. Through collaborations with telecom giants, the initiative proposes affordable data bundles and discounted call rates exclusively for UniMAC students. According to Stonne, preliminary engagements with telecom marketing executives indicate the project is highly achievable once a verified student database and formal proposal are in place
Beyond academics and connectivity, Stonne is also pushing for the Revival of UniMAC Sports and Wellness Program, a policy intended to rejuvenate campus sports culture and promote student wellbeing. His plan includes reintroducing competitive and recreational sports, organizing inter-departmental games, partnering with sports brands for equipment, and rolling out fitness and mental wellness campaigns. The initiative will begin with accessible recreational sports such as chess and arm wrestling, while also offering capacity-building workshops for sports journalism students in collaboration with SWAG UniMAC and the Ghana Olympic Committee .
With a background in professional media practice at Adom TV, Adom FM, and Asempa 94.7 FM, Alex Kobina Stonne brings strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills to the race. His campaign slogan, “Beyond Campus Mandate,” reflects a commitment to leveraging external partnerships to deliver real value to students.
As the SRC elections approach, Stonne’s issue-focused campaign positions him as a candidate determined to translate policy into action, with the promise of practical solutions, accountability, and expanded opportunities for the UniMAC student body.
