Niger Defeats Sudan, Keeping Ghana’s AFCON Hopes Alive
Niger’s shocking 4-0 victory over Sudan has provided a glimmer of hope for Ghana’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A first half brace from Daniel Sorsah and second half goals from Youssouf Oumarou and Ousseini Badamasi was enough to keep Ghana’s hope alive.
Prior to this match, Ghana was in a precarious position, sitting third in Group F with only two points from four matches, trailing both Angola and Sudan.
With Sudan’s loss, Ghana now has a chance to close the gap. The Black Stars must secure victories in their remaining matches against Angola and Niger and hope that Sudan loses their final game against Angola to qualify.
Niger have moved to the third position on the table with 4 points.
