Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has presented an official AS Monaco away jersey to former President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, during a courtesy visit to the former head of state’s residence in Accra.

Salisu, who is currently in Ghana for his off-season break, took time out to pay homage to the former president as part of his engagements while on holiday. During the visit, the 26-year-old centre-back expressed his appreciation and respect by gifting President Mahama a replica of AS Monaco’s away kit.

The gesture was warmly received, with images of the moment shared across social media, earning praise from fans and the wider football community for the player’s humility and patriotism.

Salisu’s visit comes on the back of a difficult season with AS Monaco in France’s Ligue 1. Although he began the campaign on a high, including an impressive performance against Spanish giants FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, recurring injuries disrupted his progress.

The left-footed defender struggled for consistency after returning from injury and was unable to reclaim a regular starting spot. Nevertheless, he featured in 24 matches across all competitions and scored three goals, showcasing his attacking threat on set-pieces.

With the gesture to former President Mahama, Salisu has once again demonstrated his strong ties to home and his commitment to representing Ghana with pride — both on and off the pitch.
