Maxwell Konadu Appointed as New Black Satellites Head Coach
Former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been confirmed as the new head coach of Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites.
Konadu replaces Desmond Ofei and will be assisted by Nations FC deputy coach Johnson Smith and Dreams FC boss Winfred Dormon. Kelvin Agyemang has also been added to the technical team as the goalkeeper’s trainer.
The experienced gaffer brings a wealth of knowledge and success to the role, having managed top Ghana Premier League sides.
During his stint at Asante Kotoko, he guided the Porcupine Warriors to the Ghana Premier League title in 2012 and lifted the President’s Cup in 2019. He also made his mark on the continental scene by leading the Black Galaxies to WAFU Championship victories in 2013 and 2017.
More recently, Konadu carved his name into Nsoatreman FC’s history by steering the club to its first-ever MTN FA Cup triumph in the 2023/24 season.
On the international stage, he previously worked with coaches Akwasi Appiah and former Chelsea boss Avram Grant as assistant with the Black Stars, adding further pedigree to his résumé.
His new role with the Black Satellites is seen as another important chapter in his longstanding service to Ghanaian football, as he prepares to nurture the next generation of national stars.
