Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mark Addo, has paid a morale-boosting visit to the camp of the Black Satellites ahead of their vital Group C encounter against Senegal in the ongoing TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Egypt 2025.

The visit comes at a crucial time for the team, which is eyeing a spot in the quarterfinals and, ultimately, qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted in Chile next year.

Mr. Addo, who addressed both the players and the technical team, emphasized the strong support they have from the Ghanaian public and leadership. He conveyed goodwill messages from the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, and GFA President Kurt Okraku.

You carry the hopes of an entire nation,” Mark Addo told the players. “The country stands firmly behind you, and we are proud of your dedication and resilience.”

He praised the team for their performance in their tournament opener against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a tense match that ended in a draw.

“Your first game was no easy task—the DRC proved to be formidable opponents. Nonetheless, your effort and discipline on the field give us confidence that this team can go far in the tournament. Stay united, focused, and fight for the flag of Ghana,” he added.

The Black Satellites are scheduled to face Senegal in their second group game, a fixture that could determine their progression to the knockout stage. A win would significantly boost Ghana’s hopes of making it to the FIFA U-20 World Cup and reclaiming continental glory.
