Asante Kotoko technical advisor Malik Jabir has thrown his weight behind interim coach Karim Zito, urging the club’s hierarchy to hand him the head coach role on a permanent basis following a commanding 4-1 win over Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League.

In an interview with Pure FM after Sunday’s victory, Jabir commended Zito for his tactical discipline and the positive transformation he has brought to the team in a short period.

“I will advise Asante Kotoko to maintain Coach Zito as the main coach,” Jabir said. “He has brought new life to the team, and the results are showing.”

Zito, who was appointed on an interim basis, has led the Porcupine Warriors to an impressive turnaround in form. Under his guidance, Kotoko are unbeaten in four matches, with three wins and one draw. His leadership has also steered the team into the final of the MTN FA Cup and reignited their Premier League title charge.

The emphatic victory over Dreams FC not only lifted spirits among supporters but also moved Kotoko within two points of league leaders Gold Stars. The team’s fluid attacking display and improved defensive shape have been credited to Zito’s tactical approach and man-management style.

With the Porcupine Warriors firmly back in the title race and in contention for silverware, pressure is mounting on the club’s board to provide stability in the dugout by confirming Zito as the long-term head coach.

As the season nears its climax, all eyes will be on the Kotoko management to make a decision that could shape the club’s immediate future.
