Kwesi Appiah Dismisses Black Stars Return Rumours Amid Coaching Speculation
Head coach of Sudan national football team, Kwesi Appiah, has shut down reports linking him with a potential return to the Black Stars, describing the claims as unfounded.
Speculation had emerged earlier in the week suggesting Appiah was due in Ghana for talks over the vacant coaching role. However, the former Ghana boss has made it clear that no such plans exist.
“It’s not true. I am in Saudi Arabia to monitor some Sudanese players,” he stated in response to the reports as cited by Ghana Soccer net.
The rumours come in the wake of the Ghana Football Association’s decision to part ways with Otto Addo, following disappointing results in recent international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, the search for a new head coach has intensified, prompting widespread speculation about potential candidates.
Appiah, who previously guided Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, has naturally resurfaced in discussions due to his experience with the national team.
As the GFA continues its search, attention now turns to who will be entrusted with leading the Black Stars into the upcoming World Cup, with time running out to stabilize the team ahead of the global tournament.
