Kwame Opoku Eyes Trophies in Second Stint with Asante Kotoko
Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has set his sights on helping the club achieve success both domestically and on the continental stage during his second stint with the Porcupine Warriors.
The player has re-joined the Porcupine Warriors on a two-and-a-half-year contract and was unveiled by the club during Kotoko’s 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak.
Speaking about his return, Opoku expressed his commitment to contributing to the team’s ambitions.
“I have to help the team as a whole to achieve its goals—winning trophies and competing on the continent. I couldn’t win any trophy in my first stint, but I believe this time I have a lot to offer,” he stated.
Opoku also shared the emotional struggle he faced when he left the club in 2021.
“Leaving Kotoko was a hard decision for me. The morning before my departure, I felt bad about leaving a great club like Kotoko,” he admitted.
The forward had an impressive spell with Kotoko during the 2020/21 season. In that campaign, Opoku made 16 appearances, scoring six goals and providing three assists, performances that caught the attention of international clubs.
