Hearts of Oak striker Kwabena Boateng has reaffirmed the club’s ambition to win the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, despite their recent dip in form.

The Phobians have endured a rocky spell in the league, managing just one win in their last five outings, alongside two draws and two defeats. Their latest setback came on Wednesday afternoon, as they fell 2-0 to Aduana FC in an outstanding Week 22 fixture.

The hosts took control of the match early and broke the deadlock in the 31st minute through skipper Sam Adams, who calmly converted to put Aduana ahead. Hearts’ attempts to level were repeatedly thwarted, and substitute Abdel Latif Bamba sealed the victory for the home side with a composed finish in the 88th minute.

Following the defeat, Hearts of Oak dropped to 7th on the league table with 41 points from 27 matches, further denting their title hopes.

However, speaking after the game, Kwabena Boateng remained optimistic about the team’s prospects and stressed that the fight is far from over.

“We want to win the league,” Boateng told reporters. “At the moment, there is nothing to say. We have to wait until the end of the season and see what happens.”

Boateng, who joined the club last summer, has become an integral part of the squad’s attacking line. Despite Hearts’ mixed form, the forward believes the team still has what it takes to challenge for the ultimate prize if they can find consistency in the final rounds of the season.

Hearts of Oak will now turn their attention to their next fixture as they aim to bounce back and keep their title ambitions alive.
