Asante Kotoko assistant coach Prince Yaw Owusu has admitted that striker Kwame Opoku may not be ready to feature in the highly anticipated Super Clash against Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, November 9, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The forward recently returned to light training after recovering from an ankle injury sustained during Kotoko’s opening-day win over Berekum Chelsea. However, the technical team is cautious about rushing him back into competitive action.

Speaking at a post-match press conference following Kotoko’s 4-2 victory over Karela United, Yaw Owusu hinted that the Hearts encounter might come too soon for the attacker.

“To be honest with you, Sunday is too early for him — Kwame Opoku,” Yaw Owusu revealed. “We just have to prepare and prepare him well so that when he comes back, he comes to stay.”

Opoku’s absence would be a major blow for the Porcupine Warriors, who already lost their lead striker Albert Amoah to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi.

Hearts currently boast four wins and four draws, following their recent 2-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars, while Kotoko have recorded three wins and two draws so far.

The match promises to be a thrilling contest, with both clubs eager to maintain their unbeaten records and assert early dominance in the league campaign.
