Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has heaped praise on Berekum Chelsea striker Stephen Amankonah ahead of their highly anticipated Ghana Premier League encounter on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

Ogum, who has been closely analyzing Chelsea’s squad, singled out Amankonah’s talent, describing his recent goal in the FA Cup quarterfinals as “one of the best goals you can describe as a textbook goal.”

“They have good players; you have Stephen Amankonah… They have quality on the field and they have quality on the bench, so it’s going to make the game very interesting,” Ogum said.

The upcoming fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium will not only have league implications but also serve as a dress rehearsal for the MTN FA Cup semifinal showdown between the two sides in May.

Kotoko currently sit atop the Ghana Premier League standings with 42 points, while Berekum Chelsea occupy ninth place with 32 points.

A win for Kotoko would strengthen their grip on the title race, while Chelsea will be hoping to climb the table with a strong performance in Kumasi.
