Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has lauded his counterpart at Heart of Lions, Bashir Hayford, calling him one of the finest tacticians in Ghana as the two prepare to lock horns in the Ghana Premier League this weekend.

The Porcupine Warriors will welcome the Kpando-based side to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 5, for their highly anticipated Week 4 encounter.

Speaking in his pre-match interview, Zito stressed the quality Hayford brings to Ghanaian football, while expressing confidence that his players have what it takes to claim all three points.

“Bashir Hayford is one of the best coaches we have in the country, so definitely the mantle will be with the players we are going to play. How they will go according to the instructions given to them?” Zito remarked.

He emphasised that the game will be decided on the execution of plans on the pitch, not the names on the technical bench. “We are going to play. He is at the bench and I’m the bench. I have talked to my boys to forget about Africa for now and focus on this game. On the table every home match should be a win. This is the mentality we are going to meet them with,” he added.

Kotoko, who are looking to maintain momentum after progressing in continental competition, now turn their attention fully to domestic duties. Kickoff for Sunday’s clash is scheduled for 3:00 pm at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
