Kamaldeen Sulemana Vows to Make Ghana Proud After Securing World Cup Qualification
Black Stars winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has expressed his pride and determination to make Ghana proud after playing a part in the team’s successful qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Atalanta Bergamo forward finally netted his first-ever goal for the senior national team in Ghana’s emphatic 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic, a result that sealed the Black Stars’ dominance in the qualifiers.
Ghana went on to complete their Group I campaign with a narrow 1–0 win over Comoros in Accra, finishing top with 25 points out of a possible 30 to book their ticket to the global showpiece.
Though Sulemana was an unused substitute in the final match, the 23-year-old took to social media to share his joy and reaffirm his commitment to the national cause.
“We pledge ourselves in all things to uphold and defend the good name of Ghana. So help us God,” he wrote.
Sulemana featured in five qualifying matches, having missed the initial stages of the campaign due to injury. His return to form has been timely for both club and country.
Since joining Atalanta, the former Southampton winger has been in sparkling form, scoring two goals in seven Serie A appearances, including a stunning strike against Juventus, which was voted Goal of the Month.
With an Asian tour on the horizon next month, Sulemana is widely expected to be part of Otto Addo’s squad as the Black Stars begin early preparations for the World Cup, where the talented forward hopes to make a lasting impact on football’s biggest stage.
