Kamaldeen Sulemana Joins Atalanta in €17.5m Move
Ghana international Kamaldeen Sulemana has officially completed a transfer to Italian Serie A side Atalanta Bergamo, signing a long-term contract following a successful medical on Monday, July 1, 2025.
The 23-year-old winger joins the 2024 UEFA Europa League winners from English Championship side Southampton FC in a deal worth €17.5 million, with an additional €4 million in performance-related add-ons. The move also includes a 15% sell-on clause for Southampton in the event of a future transfer.
Sulemana’s switch to Bergamo marks his first foray into Italian football, adding to a European journey that began in Denmark with FC Nordsjaelland and continued in France with Stade Rennais.

The Ghanaian attacker initially joined Southampton in January 2023 for a club-record fee, making 34 Premier League appearances, scoring five goals and providing two assists. Despite the club’s relegation at the end of the 2023/24 season, Sulemana’s electric pace, flair, and direct play caught the attention of several top European sides.
Atalanta, who will be competing in the UEFA Champions League this season, moved quickly to secure the services of the Black Stars forward, reuniting him with his former Southampton boss Ivan Juric, who took over managerial duties in Bergamo earlier this summer.
