Jordan Ayew Sends Heartfelt Message to Black Queens Ahead of WAFCON Semifinal Clash with Morocco
Captain of Ghana’s senior men’s national team, Jordan Ayew, has expressed unwavering support for the Black Queens as they prepare for a crucial semifinal showdown against host nation Morocco in the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Black Queens will face the North Africans on Tuesday, July 22, with a place in the finals at stake — a feat Ghana has not achieved since 2006. The Ghanaian women secured their spot in the last four after a hard-fought 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Algeria in the quarterfinals.
In a heartfelt statement, Jordan Ayew lauded the team’s spirit and encouraged them to rise to the occasion.
“To my sisters, the Black Queens! I’m beyond proud of the way you’ve represented Ghana on the biggest stage. Your determination, skill, and teamwork are an inspiration to us all,” the Black Stars captain stated.
“As you prepare to take on Morocco in the semifinals, I want you to know that the entire Ghanaian football family is behind you.
“We’re rooting for you, and we believe in your ability to make history. Go out there, give it your all and make Ghana proud! Let’s do this, Queens!”

The semifinal presents a significant test for Ghana as they come up against a strong Moroccan side, who were runners-up in the previous WAFCON edition and are expected to be heavily backed by home supporters in Rabat.
With momentum and national pride behind them, the Black Queens will be aiming to defy the odds and secure a place in the final, as they continue their inspiring journey in this year’s tournament.
