Accra Hearts of Oak have announced that Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has signed a new two-year contract extension, committing his future to the club until 2027.

Asare, who has been a standout performer for both club and country in recent months, was previously contracted until 2026.

However, after holding successful talks with the club’s board and management, the 32-year-old agreed to an improved deal to continue his journey with the Phobians.

“The Board and Management of Accra Hearts of Oak are happy to announce that Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare has extended his contract with Ghana’s biggest club,” the club confirmed in an official statement.

The decision to renew comes amid growing interest from North African powerhouses, including Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca and Algerian champions CR Belouizdad, both of whom had made enquiries about the player’s availability.

Despite the interest abroad, Asare has opted to stay loyal to the Accra-based side, where he also serves as the club captain.

His reputation has grown significantly in recent weeks after he impressed on his debut for the Ghana national team, keeping clean sheets in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. His composed performances earned him the starting spot over established names like Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Jojo Wollacott.

In the current Ghana Premier League season, Asare has been exceptional, recording 13 clean sheets in 20 appearances and conceding only eight goals, making him one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the league.

Asare’s extension comes as a major boost for Hearts of Oak as they aim to finish the season strongly and push for continental qualification.
