Accra Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, has confirmed that the club is actively engaging in discussions with New Edubiase United to resolve a financial dispute that led to a transfer ban imposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The GFA’s sanction followed the Phobians’ failure to meet a $70,000 financial obligation related to the transfer of midfielder Salim Adams. The payment breakdown includes $50,000 as the remaining balance for Adams’ transfer and $20,000, which constitutes 40 percent of a future transfer fee—both outlined in a decision by the GFA Players’ Status Committee.

The club missed the final May 31, 2025, deadline for payment, prompting the GFA to invoke Article 15(1)(c) of its Disciplinary Code and enforce the transfer ban, which prevents Hearts from registering any new players domestically or internationally.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Opare Addo acknowledged the club’s lapse in meeting the financial terms but assured fans that resolution efforts are underway.

“This is an issue that is being resolved, and when it’s eventually resolved, New Edubiase will confirm it,” Opare Addo stated.

He emphasized that both parties are maintaining open lines of communication.

“The two parties are in constant touch to ensure that the issues are being resolved,” he added.

The ban comes at a critical time for Hearts of Oak, who are in the midst of squad rebuilding efforts following the appointment of new head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani. The club is keen on strengthening its team ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season and potential international competitions.
