The build-up to the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo has officially begun for Ghana’s sprint team, as the country’s top seven male 100m runners have touched down in Texas, USA, for an intensive training camp at Texas A&M University–Commerce.

The camp, organized by Ghana Athletics with financial backing from the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), is designed to fine-tune the athletes’ preparations ahead of the global showpiece scheduled for September 13–21, 2025. Facility support has been provided by Texas A&M University–Commerce, with the sprinters set to train under the expert guidance of Coach George Pincock, head track and field coach at the university.

Leading the group is Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, who clocked a blistering 9.84s (+1.5) in Powder Springs, Georgia, on July 19, establishing himself as Ghana’s top performer of the season. He is joined by seasoned campaigners such as Joseph Paul Amoah, Barnabas Aggerh, Ibrahim Fuseini, Mustapha Bokpin, and Isaac Botsio.

Benjamin Azamati, who ran 9.98s (+1.2) earlier this season in Sherman Oaks, California, will join the camp on August 18 after completing competition commitments in Europe.
