Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago to Battle for Unity Cup 2025 in London
Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago—will converge in London this May to compete for the highly anticipated Unity Cup 2025.
Dubbed “The Best in the West – The Afro Classico Contest,” the tournament promises thrilling encounters between some of the most passionate footballing nations from Africa and the Caribbean.
The competition kicks off with two heated local derbies in the semi-finals. On Tuesday, May 27, the Soca Warriors of Trinidad & Tobago will face the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in the first-ever TriniJam clash on UK soil, settling the debate over who reigns supreme in the West Indies.
The following day, Wednesday, May 28, will see a classic West African showdown as the Super Eagles of Nigeria take on the Black Stars of Ghana in a battle for regional bragging rights.
The competition concludes on Saturday, May 31, with a double-header. The losers of the semi-finals will fight for third place, before the final showdown determines the Unity Cup 2025 champion.
Two-time Unity Cup champions Nigeria enter the tournament as favorites, boasting a strong FIFA ranking and solid recent performances. However, Ghana will be looking to repeat their dominant 4-1 victory over the Super Eagles when the two sides last met in London.
Meanwhile, Jamaica arrive with unfinished business, having previously suffered a narrow defeat in the tournament. They will be determined to make amends in their pursuit of the coveted trophy.
AfroSport, the organizers behind the event, expressed their excitement for the tournament’s return.
