Frimpong Manso Relishes GoldStars’ Historic GHALCA Top 4 Triumph
Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has expressed his delight after guiding his side to a remarkable unbeaten run that culminated in winning the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament.
The Miners, making their debut appearance in the competition, emerged champions without losing a single game across three matches. They began their campaign with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Asante Kotoko, before edging past Hearts of Oak in a tense penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw. Their final fixture against Heart of Lions also went to penalties after a 1-1 stalemate, with GoldStars once again holding their nerve to seal the result and lift the trophy.
Reflecting on the achievement, Manso could not hide his joy. “Obviously, I should feel happy, and now you can see the whole team and everybody is happy,” he said.
The former Ghana international highlighted the level of competition his side faced during the tournament, admitting that he anticipated strong opposition from Kotoko but was equally impressed by Hearts of Oak’s performances.
“We were expecting a very good opposition from Kotoko, but unfortunately, you could see Hearts of Oak; they’ve been playing well in this tournament, to be frank with you, and for me, all I have wanted was for us to win the cup. So whatever it would take for us to win the cup, I would never mind, so I was calm up there while they were playing,” he added.
GoldStars’ triumph marks a significant milestone for the club, which has steadily risen to prominence in Ghanaian football. The victory also serves as a confidence boost ahead of their upcoming Champion of Champions clash with Asante Kotoko at the DUNs Park, before they turn their attention to the domestic campaign and their debut appearance in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
