Former Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson has called on the club’s players to take personal responsibility for their performances as they seek to improve in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

Nelson stressed that self-motivation is key, urging the squad to step up their game for both the team’s success and their individual careers.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Nelson highlighted the need for players to push themselves beyond external motivation.

“I believe that the players must encourage themselves at times. You do not always need someone to motivate you since, at the end of the day, this is your career, and being signed will benefit you,” he said.

Hearts of Oak currently sit fifth on the Ghana Premier League table, seven points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. However, a victory against Nations FC on Wednesday could reduce the gap to just four points, keeping their title ambitions alive.

Despite a recent slump in form, Nelson remains confident in the team’s ability to bounce back.

“I believe Accra Hearts of Oak will recover, and I am confident we will do something,” he added.

The Phobians will be aiming for a strong performance in their upcoming fixtures as they look to reignite their Premier League title challenge.
