Black Queens forward Evelyn Badu has taken the next major step in her career after completing a move to Canadian side Montreal Roses ahead of the 2026 season.

The 23-year-old attacker joins the North American outfit following her departure from French club Fleury 91, marking a new chapter after previous spells in Norway and France. Her switch to Montreal sees her become part of a growing women’s football project in Canada.

Badu could not hide her excitement after sealing the move, describing the transfer as a long-anticipated opportunity.

“Joining the Montreal Roses is an opportunity I’ve been waiting for,” said Badu.
“Women’s professional soccer in North America is experiencing exceptional growth, and the Super League North is part of that movement. Montreal is building something ambitious, and I want to be a part of it. I can’t wait to contribute on the field and help this team reach new heights.”

The former Hasaacas Ladies talisman made her name during a remarkable 2021/22 campaign, inspiring the Sekondi-based club to domestic dominance and continental glory. Her exploits earned her a move abroad, where she featured for Avaldnes IL and Molde in Norway before a brief stint in France.

Badu’s rise has been defined by historic milestones, including becoming the first player to win the Golden Boot at the CAF Women’s Champions League, later adding the Best Inter-Club Player and Young Player awards to her collection.

Montreal Roses sporting director Marinette Pichon believes the Ghanaian international will significantly strengthen the club’s attacking options.

“Evelyn possesses a rare combination of technical skill and top-level experience,” Pichon said.
“She has shone on the African continent, she has played in demanding European leagues, and she knows how to score in crucial moments. She is an intelligent player who reads the game, creates opportunities, and is able to find the right space for the final pass or finish with precision. She will bring an extra dimension to our attack and embody the winning mentality we want to develop.”

With her proven pedigree and hunger for success, Badu will be aiming to make an immediate impact as she begins her journey with Montreal Roses in the 2026 campaign.
