Black Stars midfielder Elisha Owusu has welcomed Ghana’s challenging group stage draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing confidence and excitement ahead of the global showpiece.

Ghana have been placed in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, a lineup that sets the stage for a highly competitive campaign for the four-time African champions.

Speaking about the draw, Owusu acknowledged the quality of the opposition but insisted that the Black Stars are relishing the prospect of facing elite teams on football’s biggest stage.

“It’s a strong group. A really, really strong group. Croatia and England are big teams, and Panama also has quality. I like it because we will have big games,” he said.

The French-based midfielder also underlined Ghana’s ambition for the tournament, stressing that the team is determined to go beyond mere participation.

“Our main goal is to go far in the World Cup and to show the world that African football is feared. We won’t go there just to participate; we want to perform with all humility and show the world what Ghana can do.” He told Flashscore.

With preparations underway and expectations rising, the Black Stars will be hoping to build momentum ahead of the tournament and make a strong statement against some of world football’s top nations.
