Black Stars debutant Derrick Kohn has expressed his joy after joining Ghana’s senior national team camp for the first time as preparations intensify for the September World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars began camp on Monday as they gear up for crucial encounters against Chad and Mali this week. Among the 12 players who trained on the opening day was Kohn, the German-born Ghanaian defender, who is tipped to earn his debut against Chad on September 4, 2025, in N’Djamena.

“Hello Ghana. Just finished training with the guys. My first training for Ghana, I am very proud and I am happy with these guys,” Kohn said after Monday’s session.

“We are now going to the hotel, shower and fly to Chad,” he added.

The squad has since grown to 22 players, all of whom have traveled with the team to Chad for Thursday’s fixture at the Stade Olympique Idriss Deby.

Victory in N’Djamena would give Ghana a commanding advantage in their quest to secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The Black Stars currently lead Group I with 15 points, holding a three-point cushion over second-placed Comoros, who face Mali in Moroni on the same day.
