Ghana defender Daniel Amartey made a stunning debut for Besiktas, scoring a crucial goal to help his team secure a 2-0 triumph over Albania’s KF Tirana in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

Amartey’s impactful goal paved the way for Besiktas to claim a convincing away victory, positioning them as favourites to progress to the next round of the qualifiers.

The 28-year-old found the back of the net just 11 minutes after being introduced in the early stages of the second half. His close-range header showcased his prowess, giving his team the lead.

Cameroonian forward Vincent Aboubakar sealed the victory for Besiktas with a goal in the 79th minute, further solidifying their dominance in the match.

Amartey’s transfer to Besiktas on a three-year contract came after his eight-year spell with Leicester City, a tenure that ended following the club’s relegation from the Premier League. He joined the club in 2015 from Danish side Copenhagen and had a remarkable start, winning the Premier League.

He also played a role in the club’s FA Cup triumph in 2021 against Chelsea.

Besiktas will now carry their momentum into the second leg of the tie, aiming to secure their place in the next round of the Europa Conference League.
